General
NRGGrab is a power bank rental service that allows you to rent portable chargers from our smart stations located in partner venues across major UK cities. Simply tap your contactless card or phone at the station, take a power bank to charge your device, and return it to any NRGGrab station when you're done.
NRGGrab stations are located in popular venues across major UK cities — including bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels, universities, and transport hubs. Look for the distinctive NRGGrab tower at our partner venues. No app or map required; the stations are clearly visible at each location.
Absolutely. All NRGGrab power banks are high-quality, certified devices that meet strict safety standards. They include multiple protection features against overcharging, overheating, and short circuits. Our power banks are regularly maintained and inspected to ensure they are in perfect working condition.
Rental Process
No. NRGGrab uses a completely frictionless “Tap to Rent” system. Simply tap your contactless bank card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly on the station reader. A power bank pops out immediately. No downloads, no registration, no forms.
Your £30 deposit release is initiated immediately upon return. Most users see it back within 10 minutes, though some banks may take up to 24 hours.
You can keep it as long as you need. Our pricing is: £3.00 unlock fee (includes your first hour), then £1.00 per hour, with a daily cap of £8.00. If you decide to keep the power bank beyond 72 hours, it’s yours to keep for just £30 — the pre-authorisation simply converts to a final charge.
Yes — return it to any NRGGrab station in our network, not just the one you rented from. Simply push the power bank firmly into any empty slot until you hear a click. Your rental ends automatically and your final charge is calculated.
In the rare event a station is completely full, look for another NRGGrab station nearby. If you can’t find one, please contact our support team immediately quoting the station ID — we will pause your billing while we help you resolve the return.
If a power bank is lost or damaged, the £30 pre-authorisation hold becomes a permanent charge. This covers the replacement cost. If you believe the charge was made in error or have extenuating circumstances, please contact our support team.
Payments & Pricing
Our standard pay-as-you-go pricing:
- → £3.00 unlock fee (includes your first hour)
- → £1.00 per additional hour
- → £8.00 daily maximum cap
Your £30 deposit release is initiated immediately upon return. Most users see it back within 10 minutes, though some banks may take up to 24 hours.
No return? No problem. Keep your 8000mAh / 29.60Wh power bank for a one-off fee of £30 after 72 hours. It's yours to keep, no further charges.
We accept all major contactless credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. All payments are processed securely at the station. No app or online account is required.
You are charged based on the actual time you keep the power bank. The £3.00 unlock fee covers your first hour and is non-refundable. If you return it within the first hour, no additional charges apply. No refunds are issued for unused time within any paid period.
Technical Support
NRGGrab power banks are compatible with virtually all portable devices. Each unit includes three built-in cables:
- ✓ Apple Lightning (iPhones, AirPods)
- ✓ USB-C (Android, iPad, newer laptops)
- ✓ Micro-USB (older Android phones & accessories)
Our power banks have an 8000mAh / 29.60Wh capacity, which typically provides:
- → 2–3 full charges for most smartphones
- → 1–2 charges for larger flagship phones
- → About 1 charge for most tablets
NRGGrab power banks support 18W fast charging via USB-C. Most smartphones will charge to 50% in about 30 minutes and reach full charge in approximately 1.5–2 hours, depending on the handset model.
Try pressing the small power button on the side of the battery pack first. If it still doesn't charge your phone or the cable appears damaged, push it back into the station within 5 minutes of renting — you can then tap again to receive a different unit. Contact our support team if you were charged incorrectly.
